Monday, Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass and Alan Cavanna finally made sense of the Tyler Dippel suspension.

According to a report from the two Motorsport journalists, Dippel was pulled over while travelling in excess of 80-miles-per hour in his hometown of Wallkill, New York on August 18th.

During the traffic stop, Dippel was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The infraction is a Class A misdemeanor.

According to the report, Dippel gave police permission to search his vehicle. During the search, authorities found Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine. The prescription pills that were found in a backpack inside the car were prescribed to someone who was not in the car at the time.

Dippel has a court date on Wednesday August 28th at 9am in Middletown, NY.

According to a tweet from Ryan O’Hara, who first reported that the suspension came by way of drug charges, Dippel was arrested in the stop:

O’Hara was kind enough to share a screenshot of a text conversation with his source, who is an individual that works for NASCAR. This individual has confirmed that Dippel was indeed arrested for the incident.

This is a huge blow to the career of the 19-year old driver from New York, but he will have a chance in court to clear his name.
