Norm Benning is set to return to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2025, attempting to qualify for the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway on Friday, February 14.
The Level Green, Pennsylvania native confirmed to TobyChristie.com that he would once again be bringing his No. 6 Chevrolet Silverado to Daytona Beach, Florida, in an attempt to make his seventh start at the 2.5-mile superspeedway.
Benning will be driving the same vehicle that he piloted in last October’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Talladega. The long-time NASCAR National Series competitor qualified for that event on speed and came home on the lead-lap in 21st, his best finish since 2021.
In addition to Daytona, Benning says he’s also planning to bring his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series entry to Martinsville Speedway, similar to the schedule he ran at the end of last season.
The 2025 campaign will mark the 20th season in which Benning has attempted to qualify for a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event. The 73-year-old driver has been a fixture in the series since his debut at Nashville Superspeedway in August of 2002.
In his 22 years of competition in the NASCAR Truck Series, Benning has amassed 248 career starts, recording a career-best finish of 12th-place in the 2013 Fred’s 250 at Talladega Superspeedway.
The fan-favorite small-budget racer has also run four NASCAR Cup Series and three NASCAR Xfinity Series events. Benning has also made 281 starts in the ARCA Menards Series, with five top-five and 32 top-10 finishes.
However, one of Benning’s most iconic moments in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series has to be during the inaugural MudSummer Classic at Eldora Speedway, where he and Clay Greenfield were locked in a spirited, full-contact battle for the final transfer spot in the Last Chance Qualifier.
The 2025 Fresh from Florida 250 at Daytona International Speedway will take place on Friday, February 14, 2025. Coverage of the event will be on FOX Sports 1 at 7:30 PM ET, as well as MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Channel 90).
