Matt Gould, who made his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at The Milwaukee Mile earlier this season, will return to the seat of the No. 44 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado for next weekend’s event at Martinsville Speedway.

The 18-year-old son of former racer, and current Niece Motorsports crew chief Phil Gould, started 31st and finished 30th in his series debut.

Gould, a native of Mooresville, North Carolina, cut his racing teeth in the Allison Legacy Series, and the NASCAR Late Model Series. Gould made his debut in the ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards Series West in 2022, where he recorded top-10 finishes in both of his starts in 2022.

The young racer made an additional ARCA Menards Series East start at Bristol Motor Speedway last season, but his race would only last 15 laps as he retired from the event due to overheating issues and finished 31st.

On Monday, Niece Motorsports also announced a shakeup in its crew chief lineup, which will take effect beginning this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Jon Leonard, who had served as the crew chief of the team’s No. 42 Chevrolet Silverado, will move over to the No. 44, which will be piloted by Conor Daly this weekend and by Gould next weekend.

Mike Shiplett, who had been the crew chief for Bret Holmes Racing’s No. 32 entry this weekend, and had previously served as a crew chief for Cole Custer at Stewart-Haas Racing, will serve as the new crew chief for Matt Mills and the Niece Motorsports No. 42 team.
