Bret Holmes Racing announced Friday it would be ceasing operations effective immediately, and the team will not return to NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competition in 2025.
The team, which debuted in the series in 2021 with owner-driver Bret Holmes, had run the entire 2024 Truck Series schedule before not entering this weekend’s event at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
The team made a post on Facebook to announce their closure, a decision they called “difficult”.
“As of today, Bret Holmes Racing has made the difficult decision to close our doors and will not be returning to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for the 2024 or 2025 season. To all of our fans, sponsors, friends, families – and most importantly our team – we thank you for all the support and commitment shown to BHR around every turn. We appreciate each and every one of you for the roles you played in making each race day memorable”.
One of the team’s crew members, crew chief Mike Shiplett, joined Niece Motorsports earlier this week as the new crew chief for the No. 42 entry of Matt Mills.

BHR entered 63 Craftsman Truck Series races with Holmes, Sam Mayer, Ty Dillon, and Connor Mosack. The team’s best result was a third place finish by Holmes at Talladega in 2022.
The team also competed in 92 ARCA Menards Series races from 2016-2023 with Holmes, Mayer, Mosack, and Grant Enfinger. BHR won two races while competing in the series, one apiece with Enfinger and Holmes, and Holmes captured the 2020 series championship for the team.
Despite his team no longer competing in the series, Holmes intends to continue racing, with the post ending in part, “Following the closure of BHR, Bret Holmes looks to continue racing in the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series”.
