It’s been a long wait for Keith McGee, but finally he will be making his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut for Reaume Brothers Racing as he will compete in the No. 33 Chevrolet Silverado during the ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond Raceway on April 17th.
McGee was scheduled to get his first taste of action in the Truck Series last year at Talladega Superspeedway in the No. 33 truck, but when those plans were scrapped during a wonky COVID-filled year, McGee and team owner Josh Reaume got to work on a new plan for his debut.
The 39-year old United States Air Force Veteran, who served as a radar technician for the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) from September 11, 2001 to August 9, 2009, is excited to chase after the dream he had as a boy of being a race car driver.
“Being a Disabled Veteran will never define me as a person but it will always be a part of who I am,” McGee said in a team release. “Hopefully my journey of chasing down my childhood dream can be a beacon of hope to all veterans who struggle to find their purpose after leaving active duty.”
According to team owner Josh Reaume, the search is on for sponsorship that will take McGee’s tenure with the team past Richmond.
“Keith is committed to working with RBR full time this year,” Reaume said. “Given his unprecedented background within our sport we’re excited to help him find corporate partnerships that will join us on the continuation of his unique racing journey.”
McGee, who hails from Alaska, ran five NASCAR K&N Pro Series West (now known as the ARCA Menards Series West) races from 2018 to 2019. In those five starts, McGee had two top-10 finishes.
Additionally, McGee has tallied past starts in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.
Over the last three seasons, the Reaume Brothers Racing team has started a total of 115 races in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, with a best finish of fourth coming at Eldora in 2019 with veteran dirt tracker Mike Marlar behind the wheel of their No. 33 truck.
The team has featured many other drivers in the seats of their trucks over that span as well, including Jesse Iwuji, Robby Lyons, BJ McLeod, JJ Yeley and Angelea Ruch, just to name a few.
