You knew it was a possibility when NASCAR announced that the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series would contest two races in back-to-back nights at Kansas Speedway. If anything were to happen to a team’s truck in the first event, there’s a chance they would not be able to compete in the following day’s event.
Luckily, for Jordan Anderson, he does have a backup truck in his hauler for Saturday’s event. Unluckily, it’s a truck that is designed for short track competition.
“We have a back up, but it’s just our short track truck,” Anderson explained in a text message with TobyChristie.com. “Going to make the most of it.”
If any team can find a way to turn the lemons they were handed on Friday evening into refreshing glass of lemonade, it would be Anderson and his No. 3 team.
A season ago, in practice at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Anderson lost the brakes on his No. 3 machine and had to decide between two options.
- Go head-first into the wall — or
- Turn the truck rear-first and obliterate the rear end.
Anderson wisely chose to back the truck into the wall. However, the team did not have a backup truck with them, so they had to thrash. Somehow, some way, they got the truck repaired and even more unbelievable, they were able to qualify inside the top-20 the next day.
Anderson would go on to finish 16th in that event.
Now, he’ll look to perform another somewhat miracle on Saturday at Kansas Speedway.

With three laps left in Friday’s Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 200, Anderson got locked up with Spencer Davis coming off of turn four. The two trucks slammed into the outside wall, and Anderson’s No. 3 truck showed a lot of damage as it limped to a 30th-place finish.

Although running a short track truck at the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway won’t be ideal, at least Anderson will have a chance to race on Saturday.
