Spencer Boyd and the No. 76 Freedom Racing Enterprises Chevrolet Silverado will have a new look this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway as Freedom Warranty will highlight its offerings of classic car warranties on the black and red truck.
The No. 76 Freedom Racing Enterprises entry, which is co-owned by Boyd and Freedom Warranty owner Chris Miller, will carry the phrase “We Cover the Classics!” on the hood of the truck in Saturday’s Weather Guard Truck Race. The partnership between Boyd and Miller is one that began with an early-morning call in 2019 and has blossomed into the two becoming business partners with their own race team.
“It all started with a 6am call on race day out in Vegas in 2019,” Boyd recalled in a press release. “Freedom Warranty started sponsoring me about five years ago and in their first race, we won, so I’ve considered them my lucky charm since. When I look back at the winding road that brings us to today, I am beyond grateful for Chris (Miller) and the entire Freedom Warranty team for all that they have done for my career.”
While Boyd is grateful to Miller and Freedom Warranty for the support they’ve shown him throughout his racing career, Boyd has also made quite the impact for the company as he has a passionate fan base behind him.
“The support from the fans is amazing.” Tarah Slider, VP of Operations for Freedom Warranty said. “Not a week goes by that we don’t get a NASCAR fan asking for hero cards. We love supporting Spencer. We love his enthusiasm and work ethic. He is a great representative for our company and look forward to hearing from the fans about their classic cars!”
According to the press release, Freedom Warranty is one of only a select few car warranty companies that cover classic cars, vehicles that are 20 years old or older and manufactured after 1929.
Boyd, a Missouri native, scored a fifth-place finish in the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway — the first-ever race for Freedom Racing Enterprises.
However, after finishes of 22nd and 29th at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the team has made a change at crew chief, according to the NASCAR Roster Portal. Greg Ely, who started the season with the No. 76 team, will move to Reaume Brothers Racing, and the legendary Jeff Hammond will climb back atop the pit box and serve as the crew chief for Boyd beginning this weekend at Bristol.
