Sheldon Creed was very fortunate to hang on to the lead on the final lap of Stage 2 in Sunday’s NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series Sunoco 159 at the Daytona International Speedway Road Course. The driver of the No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado, came to a crawl and it appeared something was wrong with his GMS Racing machine.

As Austin Hill began bearing down on Creed, his crew shouted that there was still one lap left in the Stage — Creed thought he had already taken the checkered flag on the Stage.

So, he picked his pace back up and narrowly held off Hill for the Stage Win. This is Creed’s fourth Stage Win of 2020.

Creed inherited the lead on lap 18 when then race leader Matt Crafton missed the turn in the bus stop and made and excursion through the dirt and grass. Crafton would go from possible Stage Win to finishing 12th in Stage 2.

Tyler Ankrum finished third in Stage 2, while Zane Smith has rebounded from a first-lap first-turn miscue and was fourth.

Kris Wright in a one-off race with GMS Racing in the No. 24 car was fifth.

Spencer Davis, Raphael Lessard, Alex Tagliani, Brett Moffitt and Ty Majeski rounded out the top-10 in Stage 2.
