Despite a fun battle for the win between Martin Truex Jr., Joey Logano and Clint Bowyer, the ratings for this past weekend’s Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway drew low ratings.

The race generated a 1.7 rating, which is down a 1.8 from 2018. The broadcast also lost 8% of it’s audience going from 3.03 million viewers in 2018 to just 2.79 million this time around.

According to Sports Media Watch this makes Saturday night’s race at Richmond the lowest rated NASCAR Cup Series race since at least the 2000 season and it is the lowest rated Richmond race on television since at least 1999.

The race, which featured a great battle for the win, saw huge declines in other passing throughout the entire event with NASCAR’s new higher down force package.
