NASCAR has confirmed that Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event from Dover Motor Speedway has been postponed, due to the persistence of inclement weather.

The DuraMAX Drydene 400 – which has only completed 78 of the scheduled 400 laps — will instead resume on Monday, May 2nd at Noon / ET. Coverage of the event will remain on FOX Sports 1, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Despite the looming threat of rain, Sunday’s 400-mile event was able to start at its scheduled time, marching forward until the rain arrived at the one-mile facility at Lap 69, forcing the second caution of the afternoon.

NASCAR worked dilligently to try and restart the race, going as far as giving the one-to-go signal – likely as an attempt to push closer to the ‘official point’ of the event at Lap 200 — but the rain fought back even harder, forcing the red flag to be displayed at Lap 78.

After 78 of 400 laps, Kyle Larson – using a strategy call to stay on the track under the race’s second caution — holds the lead of the race.

Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, Martin Truex Jr, William Byron, Christopher Bell, and Aric Almirola all chose a simiar strategy, which will present them with the top-seven positions when the race restarts.
