Brandon Brown and the No. 68 Brandonbilt Motorsports team will officially throw it back to Dale Jarrett’s 2002 NASCAR Cup Series season this weekend in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Steakhouse Elite 200 at Darlington Raceway.

The No. 68 will sport the white, brown and yellow colors of UPS, but will be replaced by BMS (Brandonbilt Motorsports).

“This weekend, we’ll be paying tribute to Dale Jarrett and his 2002 UPS paint scheme that won at both Pocono and Michigan and is arguably my favorite throwback scheme that I’ve ever run,” Brown said in a team release. “It’s an honor to recognize Dale (Jarrett) because he’s been such a great ambassador of our sport and I’ve always been a big fan of his; so, this will be a pretty cool paint scheme to have on-track this Saturday.”

The decision to run the Dale Jarrett scheme came in part as a way to take an unsponsored race and attempt to have some fun with it.

“Unfortunately, we’re heading into the race weekend unsponsored; but instead of running a blank car, we decided to try and make the most of the throwback weekend and it’s exposure to hopefully draw attention to our car and continue to build on funding for our race program,” Brown explained.

I think it’s safe to say they definitely achieved that goal.

One of the best parts of the scheme is the tie in of the longstanding UPS slogan, “What can brown do for you?”

On the TV panel of Brown’s car, they have made a funny play on the old slogan by changing it to, “What can Brandon Brown do for you?”

Brown is coming off of a solid seventh-place finish at Talladega Superspeedway in his last outing and already has one top-five finish (ties a career-best) and four top-10 finishes through the season’s opening eight races.

The 27-year old and his family-owned team have been one of the pleasant surprises speed-wise in the early portion of 2021, and sit 12th in the championship standings.

The No. 68 team will look to secure their season-best finish this weekend, and if all goes well, who knows, maybe Brown can deliver his first-career NASCAR Xfinity Series win.
