Sam Mayer will be relegated to another poor finish in Saturday Afternoon’s Pennzoil 150 at Indy’s Road Course, after an intense battle with JR Motorsports teammate – albeit temporary — Chase Elliott has resulted in the No. 8 making hard contact with the tire barrier. Mayer was on-track to score a career-best finish, and his first top-five in Xfinity Series competition.

Mayer would be able to get off of the racing surface, and pull into a clear area away from the live track, but would end up with a 27th-place finish.
