Some people tie empty cans to the back of their family sedan and write the words “just married” with shoe polish on the back window as a way to celebrate their nuptials. Sam Hunt Racing’s team owner, Sam Hunt will have a new next-level take on this idea at his wedding on Saturday, July 24th, thanks to a surprise from his race team and The Decal Source.

Hunt will have a custom wrapped No. 26 Toyota Supra decked out in a design commemorating his wedding to his fiancé Noelle. Hunt posted photos of the car to his personal Facebook account on Tuesday evening.

In a chat with TobyChristie.com, Hunt says that he joked about having a car made up for the occasion, but never expected anything to come from it. He was truly surprised when his team sent him the surprise photos on Tuesday.

“I mentioned to them it would be cool, but honestly the decal folks took it from there,” Hunt said. “Some of my guys went over there tonight to help and sent me surprise pics.”

When pressed on if he would cut a few celebratory victory donuts after the wedding had concluded, Hunt said not a chance.

“I told them it’s going to be display only,” Hunt explained. “That car they did it with goes to Daytona in a couple of weeks.”

Since the former racer brought his race team to the NASCAR Xfinity Series in the final race of the 2019 season, Hunt has really built his operation into a formidable team in short time.

Colin Garrett finished 21st for the team in their debut start in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. In all, Hunt has had eight different drivers behind the wheel of his No. 26 machine in the 29 races that his team has run since 2019.

2021 is the first season that SHR has run full-time in the series, and they have made massive gains from a competitive standpoint this season.

The team scored their first-ever top-10 finish with Brandon Gdovic in the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway. They have also helped Santino Ferrucci dip his toes into stock car racing, as Ferrucci has averaged a finish of 20th in his six starts this season.

The team was also on their way to potentially a top-five finish with John Hunter Nemechek in their car at Dover, before a mechanical failure forced Nemechek to lose 18 laps and finish 32nd.

After 19 races, they sit 21st in the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series owner standings.

It seems like everything is beginning to line up for Hunt.

His personal life is in great shape. He has his wedding this weekend and his race team is stronger than it’s ever been.
