For Ryan Sieg, the quest for the NASCAR Xfinity Series victory is over with 30 to go at Talladega.

The No. 39 Ford Mustang Dark Horse sustained major front-end damage in a multi-car accident during the race’s final stage, which also collected Sammy Smith and Greg Van Alst.

Parker Retzalff, who was several laps down after an early-race brake issue, was also collected in the accident, ending his afternoon at Talladega Superspeedway.

The relative minuscule size of the incident serves as a surprise, considering the massive number of drivers that were racing in the lead pack at the time of the incident.

Surprisingly, the four-car incident served as the first “natural” caution of the afternoon, and it started while the field was looking to pass Greg Van Alst, in the No. 35 for Joey Gase Motorsports.

The field was four-wide heading into Turn 1, when Jeb Burton moved to his inside and made contact with the right-side of Greg Van Alst, triggering the incident that caused Sammy Smith, last weekend’s winner, to go around.

As Sieg, in the No. 39 SciAps Ford Mustang, spun to the inside to avoid the incident, the car got the front-end stuck in the grass, tearing off the entire front fender.
