Ric Prado, a retired CIA operative and now author, will join Sage Karam and Jordan Anderson Racing for Saturday Afternoon’s Drive for the Cure 250 at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s ROVAL, promoting his new book “Black Ops: The Life of a CIA Shadow Warrior” on the No. 31 Chevrolet Camaro.

“It’s been challenging, but yet rewarding transitioning from IndyCar to NASCAR,” Karam said in a team release. “To have my IndyCar friends and family, Jordan Anderson Chevrolet, John Bommarito and our partners like Ric Prado, Montage Mountain, Rich Mar Florist, ISMI, Scott White Career Institute, Evapo-Rust, and all of our other partners team up to make this opportunity possible is simply amazing. I’ve known Ric since I was thirteen years old,” Karam continued. “Helping him and his team promotes his soon-to-be-released book is such a privilege.”

Karam will get the chance to contest his third career start in the NASCAR Xfinity Series on Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s ROVAL, a track that the 26-year-old has never turned a lap on. In his first two starts in the series, Karam has captured finishes of 26th and 16th at Indy’s Road Course and Bristol, respectively.

“Sage Karam brings with him a drive and spirit that fits in well with our team values,” said team owner Jordan Anderson. “Welcoming a hero like Ric Prado on board is a privilege, and we want nothing more than to help him tell his story.”

With a fifth-place finish at Talladega, Anderson was able to pick up his best finish in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the second top-five result for the No. 31 Chevrolet Camaro this season, the first of which came with NASCAR Cup Series driver Tyler Reddick behind the wheel.

“I am honored to have my story in front of some of the most patriotic athletes and fans in all of professional sports,” said Ric Prado. “I’ve spent my entire career of almost 50 years trying to pay back this wonderful country of ours for taking me and my family in from the troubles that existed with communist Cuba. I’ve served men and women, heroes, that aren’t here today to tell their own story. And as hard as I have tried, I still do not believe my debt of honor is satisfied”

“Writing this book allows me to clear narratives to bring well-deserved light to the CIA, and hopefully let everyone know that what you see and hear on tv, may not always tell the entire story,” Prado continued. “I owe a lot of gratitude to Michael Fux, Sage Karam, NASCAR, its fans, and our country’s patriots. Thank you.”
