Michael Annett has officially been cleared to return to his job as driver of the No. 1 JR Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR Xfinity Series after successful surgery to correct  a stress fracture in his right femur.

JR Motorsports announced Annett’s medical clearance in a press release on Wednesday.

Thanks to great work by his medical team, Annett only missed two races while recovering from surgery.

“I can’t thank Dr. Beaver and Dr. Heisel and everyone at OrthoCarolina enough for all of their hard work to get me back in the car in just over three weeks,” Annett said in the release. “The work that Dr. Beaver did during the surgery that allowed me to recover in such a short amount of time is amazing.

For Annett, and any driver, who misses time due to injury, it’s an additional mental toll to see other drivers in your car, but Annett is thankful that Josh Berry and Austin Dillon were able to fill in admirably in his absence.

“I owe a lot to Austin [Dillon] and Josh [Berry] for filling in for me for those two races, but I cannot wait to be back at the track with my guys and set up a great run into the playoffs,” Annett stated.

Annett has received a medical waiver from NASCAR to keep his Playoff hopes alive. Heading into Watkins Glen this weekend, Annett sits 11th in the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship standings.

12 drivers make it into the Xfinity Series playoffs.
