JD Motorsports w/ Gary Keller will undergo a slight change in their driver lineup ahead of Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Dover International Speedway, TobyChristie.com has learned.

Landon Cassill – who has piloted the No. 4 Chevrolet Camaro in the first nine races of the year — will take over the driving duties of the team’s No. 6 entry at Dover, while NASCAR Xfinity Series Rookie of The Year Contender Ryan Vargas – who usually pilots the organization’s No. 6 entry — will takeover the controls of the No. 4.

According to Cassill – who briefly spoke to TobyChristie.com on Monday about the change — stated that the organization elected to make this change, in an attempt to accumulate points for the No. 6 team. Exiting Darlington, the car currently sits 37th in 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series Owner Points, a position that could put the car in danger of potentially failing to qualify for the series’ next two events at Circuit of The Americas and Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The intent of the move, is similar to the one that was made by Reaume Brothers Racing and Niece Motorsports last week, which saw the organizations swap Owner Points in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in order to put the No. 34 in a better provisional position in the events that feature qualifying.

Additionally, Cassill says that he – along with Ryan Vargas — will keep their normal crew chiefs – Tommy Machek (Cassill) and Ricky Viers (Vargas) — and crews for Saturday’s Drydene 200 at Dover.
