Shane van Gisbergen picked up his first-career NASCAR Xfinity Series win following a late-race duel with Justin Allgaier in the Pacific Office Automation 147 at Portland International Raceway on Saturday. SVG had the field covered in Stage 1, but opted to pit before the end of the Stage in an effort to keep track position heading into Stage 2.

Ultimately, the move didn’t pan out, and SVG spent the majority of the race trying to get back to the front of the field. However, he finally got his chance to get back to the front on the final restart of the race, and with four laps to go, he got around Allgaier and never looked back.

After the race, van Gisbergen’s race-winning No. 97 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet Camaro underwent the scrutinty of post-race inspection, where NASCAR deemed the car legal. As a result, SVG and his team were named the official winners of the race.

This is SVG’s second-career NASCAR National Series win, as he scored his first NASCAR Cup Series win in his series debut last July in the Chicago Street Race. Now, he’s a multi-series NASCAR race winner, and with the win, SVG is now locked into the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs.

No issues were detected in post-race inspection, which means all results and standings following Saturday’s race are now considered official.

Allgaier held on to score the runner-up finish, and he came in ahead of his JR Motorsports teammate Sammy Smith, AJ Allmendinger, Ed Jones, Cole Custer, Josh Williams, Parker Kligerman, Parker Retzlaff, and Riley Herbst inside the top-10.
