GOON, that’s what the hood of Patrick Emerling’s No. 07 Chevrolet Camaro race car will say in this weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Dover Motor Speedway. No, it isn’t an indication that the driver behind the wheel is a goon. It’s a new primary sponsorship that the driver and team have landed with Goontape, a moisture-activated Raid Tape geared toward tactical athletes.
Emerling, who has now acquired eight different sponsors in his first eight races of the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, has found a passionate partner in Goontape.
“Goontape is absolutely fired up to be sponsoring Patrick Emerling and his number 07 SS-GreenLight Racing Ford Mustang this weekend at Dover International Raceway for the NASCAR Xfinity Series BetRivers 200,” said Goontape president Adam Totter in a press release. “Patrick and his team are huge supporters of Goontape and what we stand for, and we cannot be more excited to cheer him on as he battles for the checkered flag. Give ‘em hell, Pat!”
In addition to the Goontape primary sponsorship, Emerling will also carry the Feebs Distilling brand as an associate sponsor on the rear quarter panel of his No. 07 machine this weekend.
“Huge thanks to Goontape and Feebs Distilling for coming on board this weekend,” Emerling said. “Those guys are a lot of fun, and they both offer high-quality products that I’m proud to represent.”
This weekend, Emerling hopes to avenge a strong run, which went south when he was collected in a massive melee in the Ag-Pro 300 at Talladega Superspeedway.
“I had a strong run last weekend until I was caught up in Big One. I’m looking to build on that momentum this weekend and earn a strong finish that matches how hard my team at SS-GreenLight Racing and I have been working,” Emerling explained.
Emerling’s best finish of the season was a 17th-place effort in the season-opening race at Daytona, where his No. 07 machine dropped a cylinder early in the event. Emerling was swept up in crashes at Phoenix and Talladega, and suffered from a brake failure that ended his race at Richmond.
