After spending a couple of months away from the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Frankie Muniz is jumping right back in, competing in next weekend’s event at Portland International Raceway.

The 38-year-old racer will compete once again with Joey Gase Motorsports, piloting the No. 35 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, with sponsorship coming from Ford Performance.

“Time to be a racecar driver again,” Muniz said in a social media post on Thursday. “I wanna go fast. Excited to be back in the Xfinity car next week at Portland. Ford Performance colors looking sharp.”

The Pacific Office Automation 147 at the 1.967-mile road course will serve as the third start in the Xfinity Series for Muniz, who made his series debut earlier this season at Daytona International Speedway, finishing 33rd.

His second start in the series came just three weeks later at Phoenix Raceway, and while things went considerably better, the former Hollywood movie star finished in 30th.

So far this season, while fielding primarily one vehicle, Joey Gase Motorsports has recorded a single finish inside the top-25, an 18th-place courtesy of team owner Joey Gase at Talladega Superspeedway, despite being inside the top-five coming to the checkered flag.

Entering Charlotte, the No. 35 Joey Gase Motorsports entry sits 35th in NASCAR Xfinity Series Owner Points, the third-lowest of the full-time entries in the series this year — in front of only JD Motorsports’ No. 4 and No. 6 entries.

While competing in the ARCA Menards Series, one of Muniz’s best finishes came at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, another road course, finishing in sixth place.
