Brennan Poole will not return to Alpha Prime Racing for the 2027 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series season, the race team confirmed on Monday afternoon. Poole’s departure will end a three-year partnership between the driver and team.
It’s a bittersweet day for Alpha Prime Racing to announce Poole’s exit, as the driver ranks as the leading driver statistically for the team in just about every category, including starts (95), top-five finishes (3), and top-10s (11).
Together, the pairing of Poole and Alpha Prime Racing grew together on track, and they opened a lot of eyes since the 2024 season.
“He raised his profile and our,” Tommy Joe Martins, founder of Alpha Prime Racing, said. “More than any team in the garage, Brennan and that group overachieve every year. He had something to prove, and we’ve proved it. Together.”
According to Alpha Prime Racing, Poole was offered a contract extension for the 2027 season, an offer than Poole declined to exercise.
“It’s disappointing, for sure,” Caesar Bacarella, the team’s owner, said. “He’s been a great driver for us and we feel like we’ve put a great team around him. But we appreciate everything.”
Poole, a native of The Woodlands, TX, finished 10th in Sunday night’s NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Blue Cross NC 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, which marked his fourth top-10 finish of the campaign, driving for Alpha Prime Racing.
In 219 career starts in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, Poole has 12 top-five finishes, 48 top-10s, a pole, and his career-best finish in the championship standings was a sixth-place effort in 2017, his final full-time season with Chip Ganassi Racing.
It’ll be interesting to see what Poole has lined up for the 2027 season.
