BJ McLeod Motorsports is selling its set of NASCAR Xfinity Series owner points ahead of Saturday’s Focused Health 250 at Circuit of The Americas (COTA), the organization confirmed to TobyChristie.com on Tuesday.

The points sale is a ripple effect from a Monday announcement, in which the organization confirmed it would be scaling its Xfinity Series program back to part-time this year, after fielding the No. 78 for BJ McLeod in the opening four races of 2024.

After top-15 results at Daytona and Phoenix, the No. 78 was poised to enter COTA sitting 22nd in NASCAR Xfinity Series owner points — a position likely good enough to ease the pressure of having to post a fast time in qualifying.

Those points have since been sold to SS-GreenLight Racing, who will utilize them for the organization’s No. 07 according to NASCAR’s preliminary entry list, which now shows the entry registered as No. 107.

Daniil Kvyat, a six-year Formula One veteran, is scheduled to make his second-ever NASCAR Xfinity Series start on Saturday at Circuit of The Americas, where he’ll pilot the No. 07 GoTrax Chevrolet Camaro for SS-GreenLight Racing.

The acquisition of owner points assists not just Kvyat for this weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series event in Austin, Texas, but also Patrick Emerling, who was named the anchor driver of the No. 07 Chevrolet Camaro in the off-season.

Emerling, who also competes full-time in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, has been behind the wheel of the No. 07 Chevrolet Camaro in the opening four races of the year, scoring a best finish of 17th place in the season-opener at Daytona.

Difficult weekends at both Atlanta and Las Vegas, as well as an early-race accident at Phoenix Raceway, have stranded the No. 07 outside the top-30 in NASCAR Xfinity Series owner points — which would have left the entry in danger of failing to qualify for races where more than 38 entries were present.
