In Saturday’s qualifying session for the Alsco 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, there were two names that impressed inside the top-20 on the speed charts: Bayley Currey and Camden Murphy. Interestingly enough, both drivers are racing this weekend for Mike Harmon’s race team.

Currey, a 22-year old native of Driftwood, TX had never qualified higher than 19th in his previous 16 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts. He will roll off the grid from 15th in his No. 17 Chevrolet Camaro SS.

Currey is pulling double duty as well, as he will run the No. 52 Chevy Camaro ZL1 for Rick Ware Racing in Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600.

For Murphy, he will be making his second-career NASCAR Xfinity Series start. The 22-year old Illinois native, usually spends his time crushing cars in a monster truck as he drivers the Dragonoid Truck in the Monster Jam Series. However, Murphy is proving himself quite to be quite talented behind the wheel of a stock car as well.

Murphy will start Saturday’s race from the 20th position in the No. 74 ride that Mike Harmon usually drives himself. This is the best qualifying effort for the No. 74 team since Harmon qualified 19th for the season-opening race at Daytona in 2015.

Obviously, guys like Christopher Bell and Tyler Reddick will be the ones to watch for the win, but these two young drivers will be fun stories to keep your eye on throughout the 300-mile race at Charlotte.
