After putting together a solid first full-time season in the NASCAR Cup Series, Kaulig Racing announced Thursday that it won’t be making any changes to its crew chief lineup for the 2023 season.

Matt Swiderski will continue in his role as crew chief of the No. 16 Chevrolet Camaro for the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season, working full-time with AJ Allmendinger, who returns full-time to NASCAR’s top-level for the first time in nearly a decade.

Having spent the last two seasons leading Kaulig Racing’s NASCAR Cup Series program, Swiderski has been on top of the pit box for one win, five top-fives, and 13 top-10s. In 2022, Swiderski and Allmendinger scored two top-fives at Watkins Glen and Homestead.

Trent Owens, a long-time crew chief in NASCAR’s top-three divisions, will retain his role as crew chief of the No. 31 Chevrolet Camaro for the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season, working with Justin Haley for a second consecutive season.

In the first full-time season for the Owens-Haley pairing, the Indiana driver was able to secure three top-five finishes, including a pair of season-high third-place results at Darlington Raceway and Texas Motor Speedway, ultimately finishing 22nd in points.

As of the time of the announcement (January 5), Kaulig Racing had yet to make an announcement regarding its NASCAR Xfinity Series crew chief lineup.
