On Thursday evening, Joey Gase revealed the news that he has been cleared to compete this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway via a tweet. Gase was involved in a vicious crash last weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which sent him to a local area hospital.

Gase was cleared on Thursday after further evaluation from a medical team in North Carolina.

The 28-year old driver will run two races this weekend. He’ll compete in the No. 52 Sparks machine in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Sparks 300 on Saturday, and on Sunday he’ll run the No. 53 Sparks Rick Ware Racing machine in the NASCAR Cup Series YellaWood 500.

The native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa will add to his career-total of NASCAR National Series starts, which currently sits at 335.

Gase’s career-best finish in NASCAR Xfinity Series competition was a fifth-place finish at Talladega Superspeedway driving for Jimmy Means back in 2015.

Last fall, Gase scored his best finish in NASCAR Cup Series competition with a 17th-place effort at Talladega.

He’ll look to better both of those finishes this weekend and put the dramatic and violent crash at Las Vegas behind him.
