A piece of the NASCAR FedEx Freight Truck Series silly season puzzle for the 2027 season was put together on Wednesday morning. TRICON Garage officially announced that Gio Ruggiero will return as the driver of the organization’s No. 17 Toyota Tundra for a third full-time campaign.

TRICON Garage made the announcement of Ruggiero’s contract extension in the form of a social media post and graphic.

Ruggiero, who is one of the 10 drivers who earned a place in the NASCAR Truck Series Chase this season, has one career win in 47 starts.

The 20-year-old racer has four top-five finishes and 11 top-10s this season with three races remaining in the year. Overall, Ruggiero has 11 top-five finishes and 22 top-10s over the course of his two seasons behind the wheel of the TRICON Garage entry.

Prior to moving to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series full-time in 2025, Ruggiero finished third in the ARCA Menards Series East point standings in 2024, a season where he picked up a win.

Ruggiero had four ARCA Menards Series victories in just six starts this season, while running full-time in the NASCAR Truck Series.
