There are 45 cars on the preliminary entry list for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Daytona 500, the initial entry list was shared by NASCAR on Monday afternoon.
With only 40 cars being permitted to start races in the NASCAR Cup Series, five cars will go home, unless Helio Castroneves is forced to utilize NASCAR’s new “Open Exemption Provisional” OEP, in which case 41 cars will start the Daytona 500.
The 36 Chartered entries in the NASCAR Cup Series are guaranteed entry into the race, which means the nine “Open” cars will battle it out for the final four spots in the starting lineup through Wednesday’s qualifying session and Thursday’s Duel Qualifying Races.
