There are 40 cars on the preliminary entry list for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Grant Park 165, the second annual street race around the Chicago Street Course and the 20th race of the 36-race NASCAR Cup Series season.
With up to 40 cars being permitted to start each race in the NASCAR Cup Series, no drivers or teams will be going home following this week’s qualifying session.
Joey Logano, who won last weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series event at Nashville Superspeedway, will return this weekend in the No. 22 Team Penske Ford Mustang Dark Horse with primary sponsorship from Shell Pennzoil.
Kaz Grala, who was out for last weekend’s race at Nashville Superspeedway, will return to the driver’s seat of the No. 15 Rick Ware Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse this weekend.
Shane van Gisbergen, who won this event a season ago, will look to defend his race win as the driver of the No. 16 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
There will be four “Open” entries this weekend, which will give us a full 40-car field for the first time since the Coca-Cola 600 in May.
Kaulig Racing will field the No. 13 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with AJ Allmendinger behind the wheel, Richard Childress Racing will have Austin Hill in the No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, RFK Racing will enter the No. 60 Ford Mustang Dark Horse with Joey Hand as the driver, and MBM Motorsports will return its No. 66 Ford Mustang Dark Horse to the track with Josh Bilicki behind the wheel.
