There are 37 cars on the preliminary entry list for Sunday’s Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway, race No. 23 of the 36-race 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season.

With up to 40 cars being permitted to start each weekend in the NASCAR Cup Series, no drivers or teams will head home after this week’s qualifying session.

Kyle Larson, who took the win in the Brickyard 400 a couple of weeks ago, will return as expected in the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with primary sponsorship from HendrickCars.com. Larson, the regular-season championship leader, is seeking his fifth win of the 2024 season. Larson won the spring race at Richmond a season ago and has two career wins at the 0.750-mile short track heading into this weekend’s tilt.

As far as notable entries in the field, Riley Herbst will return to the No. 15 Rick Ware Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse this weekend. This will mark the fourth start of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season for the 25-year-old racer.

Herbst is a full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series competitor for Stewart-Haas Racing and he took his second career NXS win in the series’ most recent race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway a couple of weeks ago.

Ty Dillon will also make his sixth start of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season, and his second consecutive start. Dillon will pilot the No. 16 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for the fourth time this season. The 32-year-old grandson of Richard Childress drove the part-time No. 33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet to a 19th-place finish in the Brickyard 400 — the most recent race in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Dillon will also drive in Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race in the No. 25 Rackley WAR entry, where he has driven full-time this season.

Parker Retzlaff, who has competed full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this season with Jordan Anderson Racing, will make his NASCAR Cup Series debut in the No. 66 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for MBM Motorsports.
