Denny Hamlin is driving like a man possessed in 2020. On Thursday, Hamlin took home his fifth victory of the season after a wild and crazy Super Start 400 at Kansas Speedway.

Hamlin has 42-career wins in NASCAR’s premier series, now. And it seems that he is hell bent on finally breaking the stigma of not being a champion at NASCAR’s highest level.

Brad Keselowski rallied late to apply pressure to Hamlin, but after Hamlin took Keselowski’s line away, there was nothing that the No. 2 car could do.

Behind Keselowski was Martin Truex Jr. in third. Kevin Harvick and Erik Jones rounded out the top-five finishers in Thursday’s race.

Aric Almirola, who finished sixth, has recorded eight-consecutive top-10 finishes.

Cole Custer finished seventh, while Alex Bowman finished eighth with Kurt Busch just behind him in ninth.

William Byron came home a disappointing 10th. Byron had the lead when a late-race caution brought the field to pit road. Byron’s crew chief Keith Rodden called for a two tire stop, which got Byron back out on track in the lead, but the No. 24 car just didn’t have anything for the fresh four tires that were breathing down the back of his neck.
