William Byron absolutely obliterated his primary No. 24 car in Saturday morning’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Practice.

As a result of the damage, Byron will head to a backup car and go to the rear of the field to start Sunday’s race.

Byron wasn’t alone as Kyle Larson made slight contact with the right side of his No. 42 car and will also go to a backup car.

Larson and Byron are among a list of five drivers who have gone to Backup cars this weekend.

Denny Hamlin and Ryan Newman crashed at the end of Friday practice and Alex Bowman suffered damage when the drive shaft went caput during his qualifying run.
