Tuesday night’s NASCAR Cup Series Busch Clash at the Daytona International Speedway Road Course on FS1 was packed-full of crazy on-track action, but at the end of the day the race recorded a significant decline in viewership than what the Busch Clash received in 2020.

Last year’s Busch Clash recorded 2.5-million viewers, while the 2021 edition recorded a total of 1.6-million (according to ShowBuzzDaily).  This equates to roughly a 36-percent drop in viewership of this event from 2020.

NASCAR Cup Series TV Ratings

There are several factors that could have contributed to the lower rating.

Obviously, the race being run on a Tuesday night instead of a Sunday, like was the case in 2020, would lead to a diminishing of ratings. But there is also the factor of the race moving from the 2.5-mile superspeedway layout of Daytona to the Road Course layout.

Several diehard fans voiced displeasure on social media leading up to the event that they were not a fan of the race taking place on the road course. But at the end of the day, the layout produced an enthralling event with numerous lead changes and treacherous moments.
