It’s been an eventful first day of Next Gen testing at Charlotte Motor Speedway, with the latest incident coming at the expense of Richard Childress Racing’s Tyler Reddick, which has sustained heavy damage after contact with the barrels at pit road entry.

The accident happened when Reddick’s No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro snapped loose in turn four, spinning down the race track. However, the car came to an abrupt stop when it impacted the yellow barrels, sending them flying into the air.

Reddick was able to drive his heavily-damaged vehicle back to the garage, but for the second time in two organizational tests, Richard Childress Racing will have some quick work to do if they’re hoping to return to the testing session on Wednesday, or even Friday.

Noah Lewis of TSJ1 Sports was able to capture footage of the accident, as well as Reddick limping back to pit road. Reddick was later checked and released from the infield care center.
