One of the most anticipated stories of this weekend’s on-track activities at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s ROVAL, Conor Daly, has found the outside wall in the closing minutes of NASCAR Cup Series practice.

Daly, a full-time competitor in the NTT IndyCar Series, was leaving the bus-stop chicane – located on the backstretch of Charlotte Motor Speedway – when his No. 50 BitNile Chevrolet Camaro veered to the outside wall.

“I just lost all steering,” Daly told NBC Sports. “It just went straight into the wall. It was as if you just disconnected the steering entirely and I could have just rolled the steering wheel anywhere I wanted. So that was weird. I’ve never felt anything like that before in my life.”

The 30-year-old is scheduled to make his NASCAR Cup Series debut in Sunday’s Bank of America ROVAL 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s ROVAL, and should still do so, as only 38 drivers are entered for Sunday’s race.
