Video: Ryan Blaney Crashes Driver’s Side First into Outside Wall in Vegas Practice

It will be an uphill battle for Ryan Blaney and the No. 12 Team Penske team this weekend in the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway after a wicked crash on the driver’s second lap of practice on Saturday afternoon at the 1.5-mile track.

Blaney had a left rear tire cut down going into Turn 1, and the driver lost control of the car. As the car spun, Blaney’s car slammed driver’s side door first into the outside SAFER barrier.

After the hard crash, Blaney’s team will have to roll out the backup car, and Blaney, a Round of 8 Playoff contender and defending NASCAR Cup Series champion will have to start the South Point 400 from the rear of the field.

Initially after crashing, Blaney radioed to his team that his head hurt, but Blaney was evaluated and released from the infield car center, and should be good to go to continue competing this weekend.
