Video: MASSIVE Crash Erupts in Turn 1 on Brickyard 400 Overtime Attempt

A massive crash ensued on an overtime restart attempt as the field was heading into Turn 1 in Sunday’s Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Several top contenders, including Denny Hamlin, and Chase Briscoe were heavily involved, and the race was put under the red flag for cleanup.

As the race was about to go back to green, race leader Brad Keselowski peeled off the track onto pit road due to his fuel tank sputtering. This allowed Kyle Larson to speed up in the bottom lane to get lined up with Ryan Blaney, the new race leader. As they were coming to the green flag, other cars began running out of fuel.

John Hunter Nemechek and Daniel Hemric made contact, which sent them both back across the track in the line of traffic that was screaming into Turn 1. Denny Hamlin and Alex Bowman were the first to be collected, and by the time the carnage had settled, at least five cars were involved in the mayhem.

Of the five drivers involved, four will not make it to the finish of the Brickyard 400. The drivers done for the day after the crash are John Hunter Nemechek, Daniel Hemric, Alex Bowman, and Denny Hamlin.
