Video: Martin Truex Jr. Misses Shift in Final Practice, Blows Engine

If Martin Truex Jr. is going to go on to sweep the opening Round of the 2019 NASCAR Playoffs, he will have to do so from the rear of the field in the Bank of America 400 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval, after he missed a shift in his No. 19 Toyota Camry during Saturday’s final practice.

Truex’s car suffered an engine failure as a result of the missed shift.

The team will need a new engine/transmission, which will result in the driver of the No. 19 car dropping to the rear of the field.

Truex has won six races so far in 2019, which is a Series-best, and he has won the opening two races of the 2019 Playoffs. Truex had high hopes for a sweep heading into the Roval, as he led the race last season on the final lap before being spun by Jimmie Johnson in the final turn.
