Video: Kyle Larson Cuts Tire, Collides with Outside Wall at Kansas

Wow, while it’s not an ideal start to Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway, things could have certainly been much worse for Kyle Larson, the No. 1 seed in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.

On Lap 19, Larson had a right rear tire cut down on his No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 heading into Turn 2. Larson’s car would kick sideways and would skid into the outside wall with the right rear of his car.

Fortunately, Larson was running the high lane so he didn’t have to travel a large distance to the outside wall, which saved him from further damage. Larson will start at the tail end of the field after pitting before pit road was open for his team to assess the damage on his car.

After looking it over, Larson and his team determined the hit wasn’t even hard enough to knock the toe out of the car.

Larson will restart the race from the 35th position.
