Kevin Harvick slammed the wall head-on in the first corner, in the closing minutes of NASCAR Cup Series qualifying at the Chicago Street Course.

Kevin Harvick, much like his Stewart-Haas Racing teammates, has been riding the struggle bus at the Chicago Street Course on Saturday, running off the pace in both practice and qualifying.

That frustration has likely ramped up even more now after the driver of the No. 4 GEARWRENCH Ford Mustang crashed in the closing seconds of NASCAR Cup Series qualifying at the 2.2-mile street course.

The Bakersfield, California native was attempting to get himself a better lap in qualifying, when he smacked the inside wall at the entrance to the first corner, shooting the No. 4 to the outside wall head-on.

Harvick wasn’t the only driver to have issues in the NASCAR Cup Series this afternoon, joining drivers like Austin Cindric, Chase Elliott, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., and Justin Haley, amongst others.

The 47-year-old driver was able to climb from the car under his own power after a vicious impact with the concrete wall, after missing the tire pack sitting at the apex of the corner.

After being the slowest car to post a lap in qualifying, Harvick will start 34th in Sunday’s Grant Park 220 at the Chicago Street Course.
