Video: Contact Between Haley and Briscoe Triggers Eight-Car Wreck at Phoenix

It’s been a chaotic start to Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event at Phoenix Raceway, with several on-track incidents, including an eight-car wreck just 100 laps into the Shriners Children’s 500.

The incident started on a restart in the race’s second stage, when four-wide contact between Justin Haley and Chase Briscoe sent both cars up the racetrack, slamming Carson Hocevar into the outside wall and collecting many drivers behind.

When the smoke finally cleared from the incident, there were eight drivers involved in the wreck, including Shane Van Gisbergen, Riley Herbst, Noah Gragson, Cole Custer, Brad Keselowski, and Austin Dillon.

Van Gisbergen, Custer, Keselowski, Haley, Briscoe, Hocevar, and Herbst all went behind the wall and to the NASCAR Cup Series garage as a result of extensive damage to their vehicles.

All drivers involved in the wrecks were able to climb from their racecars under their own power and headed to the infield care center.
