Video: Cindric, Gragson and McDowell Crash Into Tire Barrier to Bring Out 7th Caution

As of Lap 40, nearly half of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Toyota / Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway has been run under yellow flag conditions. The seventh caution of the day broke out on Lap 40.

The incident was triggered by contact between Austin Cindric and Noah Gragson, which sent both of those drivers skidding into the tire barrier, off of the racing surface.

As Gragson and Cindric were coming to a stop, Michael McDowell received a tap from Justin Haley’s No. 51 Rick Ware Racing machine, which sent McDowell into the tire barrier along with Gragson and Cindric.

The crash into the tire barrier caused a brief delay for repairs to the barrier.

All three cars were able to soldier on without much damage, but the race is now under it’s seventh caution in the opening 40 laps. With 70 laps left in the race, we are just two cautions shy of the track record for cautions, which was nine set back in 1990.
