Chase Elliott – one of the four drivers competing for the NASCAR Cup Series title – has spun around on the frontstretch, after being turned by fellow title contender Ross Chastain on a restart in stage three.

Chase Elliott’s chances at becoming the second-youngest multi-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, have hit a major road bump, and may even be over, after an incident on a restart in the final stage of the race.

With more than 100 laps left, Elliott was running in fifth place, third on the inside lane, with Ross Chastain lining up directly behind. Then, the Trackhouse Racing driver made a move to the inside, where Elliott made a block, spinning him to the inside of the track.

With an incredible rally, the Hendrick Motorsports crew was able to quickly make some patchwork repairs, to get the suspension proper on the No. 9, and return him to the track to make minimum speed.

However, Elliott has been adamant that there is still something wrong with the Hendrick Motorsports entry, meaning they’ll have to rely on the downfall of their competitors in order to win a title.
