Bubba Wallace suffered a flat right rear tire on Lap 108, which sent him into the wall at Kansas Speedway. The wall slap broke the toe link on his car.

Bubba Wallace and the 23XI Racing team have been among the best of the best at Kansas Speedway since the Next Gen car came into the NASCAR Cup Series. And on Sunday, Wallace was again looking like a potential race-winner.

But then on Lap 108, while running in second, things went south for Wallace when the right rear tire on his No. 23 Toyota Camry TRD went down. Wallace did his best to minimize the damage, but a slight slap into the outside wall broke the toe link on the right side of his car.

Here is a video of the incident that has hampered Wallace’s day:

Wallace brought the car to pit road to the attention of his pit crew, who then noticed the broken toe link while attempting to change the tire. Immediately, the team went into scramble mode to make the repairs in time to get Wallace back on the track, which they were able to do before the Damage Vehicle Policy clock ran out.

Wallace now sits 34th in the running order, three laps off the pace. He’ll need a lot of luck to work his way back into contention in the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway.
