Shane Van Gisbergen is adding another NASCAR Cup Series event to his schedule this season, with confirmation Monday that Kaulig Racing will field a third entry in Sunday’s Bank of America ROVAL 400.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series regular will drive the No. 13 WeatherTech Chevrolet Camaro in Sunday’s event, which will be contested on the purpose-built road course inside of Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.

Van Gisbergen has captured three road course victories in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this season (Portland, Sonoma, and Chicago), but enters the weekend sitting 10 points below the cutline. When the checkered flag is displayed on Saturday, the bottom four drivers on the Playoff Grid will be eliminated.

This last-minute addition to Van Gisbergen’s schedule means the Auckland, New Zealand native will be running double-duty, with the Kaulig Racing driver having two full-length practice sessions — the Cup Series and Xfinity Series sessions — to learn this newly-reconfigured road course.

Sunday’s Bank of America ROVAL 400 will mark the 12th NASCAR Cup Series start for Van Gisbergen and the 10th of the year with Kaulig Racing. In his limited-time racing in NASCAR’s premier division, the three-time Supercars champion has recorded one victory, two top-five, and three top-10 finishes.

Despite being in Kaulig’s third entry, the No. 13, Van Gisbergen will have Travis Mack calling the shots, per NASCAR’s Roster Portal, just like he has in all of his other NASCAR Cup Series starts this year. Mack jumps over from the No. 16 to the No. 13 for this weekend, while Andrew Dickeson will work with AJ Allmendinger in the No. 16.

The Bank of America ROVAL 400 will take place on Sunday, October 13 at 2:00 PM ET. Coverage of the event will be on NBC, with radio coverage on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Channel 90).
