Kyle Busch will roll from the pole in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Wurth 400 at Dover Motor Speedway after weather washed out Saturday’s qualifying session.
As a result of qualifying being rained out, the field was set by the NASCAR Performance Metric, which is a weighted average that takes into account a driver’s finish (25%), a car’s finish (25%), and a car’s fastest lap (15%) from the previous race as well as a car’s owner points ranking (35%).
Busch’s Metric Score of 3.500 topped the rest of the field to give him the top spot for Sunday.

For Busch, the top starting spot, which will not be credited as an official pole, as it was not earned on the track, says that his No. 8 Chevrolet has not been super impressive off of the truck this weekend. However, he feels the advantage of starting up front could put him and his team where they need to be on Sunday.
“Just fighting tight. Guys are working hard and we’re doing everything we can with the Lenovo Camaro to get it ready for the race,” Busch admitted. “I’ll take it, you know? Starting up front. Track position race. Number one pit box, that’s super good to have here at Dover.”
Lining up alongside Busch will be Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell, who comes into this weekend as the NASCAR Cup Series points leader. Bell had a Metric Score of 5.100.
Ryan Blaney will lineup in the third position, while RFK Racing teammates Brad Keselowski and Chris Buescher will start fourth and fifth.
Chase Briscoe, Tyler Reddick, William Byron, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Chase Elliott will round out the top 10 starters in the Wurth 400 at Dover.
Josh Berry, who is filling in for the injured Alex Bowman, had the fastest 10-lap consecutive average in NASCAR Cup Series practice (four cars made 10 consecutive laps in the session) and will start Sunday’s race from the 23rd starting position.
