For the first time in his NASCAR Cup Series career, rookie Carson Hocevar has paced a practice session, posting a 29.865-second lap in Saturday’s four-minute practice (yes, you read that correctly) from New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Michael McDowell was in second, with Brad Keselowski, William Byron, and Zane Smith rounding out the top five. Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin, Josh Berry, Bubba Wallace, and Noah Gragson rounded out the top-10.
The session was so short that no driver managed to complete more than seven laps around the 1.058-mile short track in Loudon, New Hampshire. Christopher Bell, who will start top five in Sunday’s 301-lap contest, didn’t even compete in the session.
