Alexander Rossi suffered a crash less than 15 minutes into second practice for the NTT IndyCar Series at Barber Motorsports Park.

Rolling through the final corner of the 17-turn, 2.3-mile natural terrain road course, the 30-year-old California ended up trying to correct a slide before losing control and making heavy contact Armco barrier with the rear of the No. 27 Andretti Autosport Honda.

The end result left Rossi stopped on the main straight, with oil from the gearbox spilling on the track, putting a halt on the session with a red flag. Additionally, debris from the incident found the right front of the No. 06 Meyer Shank Racing Honda of Helio Castroneves, which was enough to force him to stop on track and wait for service to return to the pits.

The team has opted to do an entire engine change ahead of qualifying set for 1 p.m. ET.
