Armando Christian Pérez, better known as “Pitbull”, has terminated his ownership agreement with NASCAR Cup Series organization Trackhouse Racing, the award-winning recording artist announced via social media on Friday.

Pitbull first joined forces with Trackhouse Racing at the beginning of its inaugural season in the NASCAR Cup Series, becoming co-owner of the team alongside Justin Marks.

In a statement posted to social media, Pitbull says: “Over the past five years, we’ve made history by introducing NASCAR to a whole new audience and falling in love with NASCAR fans at the same time. We have made the decision to terminate the partnership with Trackhouse Racing, effective immediately.”

Trackhouse Racing currently fields three full-time entries in the NASCAR Cup Series for Ross Chastain (No. 1), Shane Van Gisbergen (No. 88), and Daniel Suarez (No. 99), as well as a part-time fourth entry, which will adorn the No. 91 in Sunday’s DAYTONA 500 for Helio Castroneves.

Justin Marks, owner of Trackhouse Racing, took to social media shortly after Pitbull’s statement, with one of his own.

“This is a great business story. Armando came in when we had no certainty of any material success and took a chance to help build a brand,” said Marks. “Now that we’ve scaled up and have new partners, he’s been able to be rewarded for the impact he’s made. A great investment on both ends. Excited to see what he does next! DALE!”

Despite the termination in partnership, Pitbull will still perform Sunday’s pre-race concert at Daytona International Speedway, in advance of the 67th-annual DAYTONA 500.
