For the second time this season, the No. 31 Kaulig Racing team will be without crew chief Trent Owens and two members of their pit crew for four races, after the No. 31 team had a wheel separate from their car during a race.

In Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway, the car lost a wheel as it was exiting it’s pit stall following a pit stop. The car was also on fire at the time.

Officially, the team was tagged with violating sections 10.5.2.6 of the NASCAR Rulebook, which pertains to a loss or separation of an improperly installed tire/wheel from the vehicle.

In addition to the crew chief Trent Owens, Jackmanr Marshall McFadden and Rear Tire Changer Jonpatrick Kealey will also sit out the next four NASCAR Cup Series events, which includes this weekend’s NASCAR All-Star Race at Texas Motor Speedway and the next three points-paying races.

Owens, McFadden and Kealey will be eligible to return from suspension after the event at Sonoma Raceway on June 12th.

The No. 31 team also lost a wheel during the season-opening Daytona 500, which led to a four-race suspension for Owens, McFadden and Front Tire Changer Jacob Nelson.

After 13 races, Justin Haley, who drives the No. 31 car full-time, sits 23rd in the NASCAR Cup Series championship standings, while the No. 31 team is also 23rd in the NASCAR Cup Series owner standings.
