After much anticipation, NASCAR has officially released the 2024 schedules for the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, putting to rest several months of schedule-based speculation.
Of the schedules released for NASCAR’s top-three series, the NASCAR Cup Series underwent the biggest year-over-year changes, as one of two series to add a brand-new venue to its schedule in 2024 – that being Iowa Speedway.
NASCAR Cup Series – Schedule News and Notes:
In the NASCAR Cup Series, headliner events such as the Busch Light Clash (LA Memorial Coliseum) and NASCAR All-Star Race (North Wilkesboro Speedway) will each continue to be held at their respective venues.
The Daytona 500 will continue to open the NASCAR Cup Series season – when it comes to points-paying events – but in 2024, will be followed by another facility with a superspeedway-like atmosphere in Atlanta Motor Speedway (February 25).
As previously announced, Bristol Motor Speedway will return to its concrete surface for the Spring race weekend in 2024, and along with ditching the dirt will also ditch the Easter Sunday race date it had run the last two seasons – moving to March 17.
Richmond Raceway will inherit that Easter Sunday race date, with the first of its two NASCAR Cup Series events taking place on March 31, and the second coming after the two-week Olympic break on August 11. Both races will take place at night.
Texas Motor Speedway will forgo its mid-September race date, which usually brings with it scorching temperatures, to move to April 14th, a spot just three weeks after the series travels to Texas for the event at Circuit of The Americas.
Iowa Speedway will host its first-ever NASCAR Cup Series event in June 2024, and will mark the turnover between FOX Sports and NBC Sports broadcast tenures. The following week will see New Hampshire Motor Speedway, which moves up to mid-June, on June 23.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway will continue to host a date on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule, but after three years of racing on the road course, will revert back to running on the historic oval for the Brickyard 400 on July 21st.
As a result of the two-week break for the Olympics, Daytona International Speedway will no longer serve as the NASCAR Cup Series regular-season finale, with Darlington Raceway on Labor Day Weekend officially setting the 16-driver post-season field, one week late.
Both Atlanta Motor Speedway and Watkins Glen International have been placed in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs for the first time, with back-to-back races taking place on September 8th and September 15th.
Finally, the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season will conclude on Sunday, November 10, one week later than originally announced. Earlier this year, the championship weekend was announced to culminate on November 3.

NASCAR Xfinity Series – Schedule News and Notes:
When it comes to the NASCAR Xfinity Series, a lot of the same changes from the NASCAR Cup Series schedule will be implemented here, as well – i.e. Atlanta, Texas, New Hampshire, Atlanta (again).
Iowa Speedway, which hosted Xfinity Series events up until 2019, will return to the schedule for the first time in five years, as a replacement for Auto Club Speedway, which is currently in the midst of work to build a new short track on the property.
Similar to the Cup Series, again, Indianapolis Motor Speedway will return to the series’ schedule in 2024, as the series will also run on the oval, alongside the stars of NASCAR’s top level.
In the NASCAR Xfinity Series post-season, Talladega has been added back to the schedule, after a one-year absence, and ultimately will serve as a replacement for Road America, which was removed from the schedule for 2024.
Portland International Raceway will serve as the only standalone event.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series – Schedule News and Notes:
The 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule featured a couple of instances of shuffling year-over-year but overall continues to have the same track combinations that it has the last couple of years.
With Bristol’s Dirt Race being axed, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will score a second date on the track’s concrete surface, for the first time. Mid-Ohio will no longer be present on the Truck Series schedule, with Martinsville picking up a second date in the Playoffs.
This year’s schedule, though, lacks the diversity the series has seemingly chased in recent years with no dirt race, and only a single road course race at Circuit of The Americas, as opposed to having two like the series has in recent years.
